Alright, so I’m officially the worst blogger ever. Things get a little busy and all of a sudden I don’t have time for you guys. 😦 I promise I’ll be better in future. I do have a good excuse though. When I came home from England I found out they were selling the house I live in. So the new apartment search began. I lucked out and found a situation that I hope will be just as awesome as my last apartment, even if it is a little further away from work. So having found a cute house that I get to share with a new friend I made I set about packing my belongings and moving my stuff in. One week into the move I was grabbing lunch for a work meeting when I (hands very full) closed my car door with my foot and ended up collapsing to the ground in agony. Urgent Care visits, crutches, knee braces, and the hassle of a Workman’s Comp claim quickly followed. One week of thinking I had a torn ACL and one MRI later I find out I dislocated my patella and strained all the ligaments in my knee. Thankfully no surgery required.
Lucky for me I work with a lot of really great people who helped me move all my furniture this week while I hobbled around trying desperately to exert some control over the chaos. This experience has taught me two things: 1 – I am way more of a control freak than I previously thought, and 2 – having a whole bunch of your coworkers touch your stuff is really awkward when you have a motley collection of swords and parasols around the house from Halloweens past. I am however still incredibly moved by the generosity of those who gave up their time to help me out. So I am now an official resident of Springville (I’ll post pics of the house when I get things put together) and I have my first Physical Therapy appointment this afternoon. Things are looking up and all in all there have been some definite benefits to being injured. For instance: I don’t have to get up and work out in the mornings, the gentleman caller keeps making me dinner and carrying my purse around for me (which looks hilarious, he carries it at arms length as if he’ll catch the plague if it touches more than his hands), and people are happy to fetch things for me. I don’t like having to depend on others but I guess I can just look on this as a learning experience and try to set aside my ridiculous need for independence for a while. I’ll leave you with a few random pics from the last few weeks and will look forward to posting again next week. 🙂
Love you all!!
But no difficulty whatsoever naming blog posts. Another gem!
Gah! I hope you are feeling better. Do you need anything? That stinks B! I love our photo. So cute. Can we do fun fall things? Canyon walks/cider trips/baking etc. Perfect. I miss you and need to see you soon. Can’t wait to see your new house!
Sorry you’re in a brace, that has to be tough. I want to see photos of your new house! And I agree, your picture as a little girl is so adorable!
